Karlsruhe is the second-largest city in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in southwest Germany, near the Franco-German border. It has a population of 296,033. Karlsruhe features hot summers and average to mild winters. The city is one of the warmest and sunniest in Germany. Precipitation is almost evenly spread throughout the year. Karlsruhe has some beautiful buildings, two botanical gardens and a zoo.
Jews settled there shortly after its foundation in 1715. By 1725 the community had a synagogue, bathhouse, infirmary, and cemetery. The Jewish population reached 3,800 in 1925 after which time it reduced to about 323 in 1989. It had grown to 800 in 2004 swelled by imigrants from the former Soviet Union. There is one main synagogue in Karlsruhe. There is also a Chabad House where it is possible to get kosher food from.

JOFY, or "Jewish Observant Friendly" Establishments are lodging establishments offering special services for Jewish Observant guests such as Shabbat meals, accommodation on lower floors and regular keys for the rooms. It can also be a NON KOSHER establishment located in walking distance from the local Shul, community or kosher restaurants area.
