About Timisoara
Timisoara is the capital city of Timiș County, the 3rd largest city in Romania and the main social, economic and cultural centre in western Romania. Archaeological discoveries prove that the area where Timișoara is located today has been inhabited since ancient times. The first identifiable civilization in this area were the Dacians who left traces of their past. Timișoara lies at an altitude of 90 metres (300 feet) on the southeast edge of the Banat plain, part of the Pannonian Plain near the divergence of the Timiș and Bega rivers. Climate in this area has mild differences between highs and lows.
