Edison is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, Edison had a total population of 99,967. Edison Township, comprising former sections of Piscataway and Woodbridge townships, was settled (by Europeans) in the 17th century. Extreme temperatures in Edison have ranged from −17 °F (−17 °C), recorded in February 1934, to 106 °F (41 °C), recorded in July 1936 and August 1949. Edison is the home of Thomas Alva Edison’s famed Menlo Park laboratory where the incandescent light bulb was perfected and sound was first recorded. Edison is about an hour away from New York City.
