The Town of Liberty area is credited with providing 303 men who fought in the Revolution. The population was 4,392 at the 2010 census. The Village of Liberty is centrally located in the Town of Liberty and is adjacent to New York Route 17. While the Town of Liberty was incorporated in 1807, the Village of Liberty was not incorporated as a separate entity until 1870.
Once famous for its Hotels and summer entertainments Liberty has now become summer home to many Charedi Jews from New York City, many have summer homes in the area and swell the community for two months of the year.

JOFY, or "Jewish Observant Friendly" Establishments are lodging establishments offering special services for Jewish Observant guests such as Shabbat meals, accommodation on lower floors and regular keys for the rooms. It can also be a NON KOSHER establishment located in walking distance from the local Shul, community or kosher restaurants area.
