About Upper East Side

The area incorporates several smaller neighborhoods, including Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill, and Yorkville. Once known as the Silk Stocking District, it is now one of the most affluent neighborhoods in New York City. Up to the mid-19th Century much of the area was farmland, it was only after this time that the area began to become built-up. Today The Upper East Side is one of the most prosperous areas of the USA.
