About Svalbard
Up in the high Arctic is a magical wonderland, filled with exotic wildlife and landscapes, welcome to Svalbard!
Ever since its discovery by the Dutch in 1596, Svalbard has been a benchmark for extreme adventure and unique wildlife. From the world‘s largest land predator, the mighty Polar Bear, to the enormous Walrus and its impressive tusks and the whales who roam the ocean. This is a land of giants like no other.
Everything is unique here: the sun doesn’t set for our entire stay, the snow may fall even in the peak of summer while ancient glaciers carve the landscape of the fjords.
What is so special about this expedition?
- Peak Season - We are able to circumnavigate Spitsbergen and reach even the north-east islands and its ice-cap. At this time of the year, the sun doesn’t set at all, so we have 24 hours of amazing light.
- Polar Bears - Our experience with the mighty white kings and queens of the Arctic is unparalleled.
- Walrus Domains - We will visit the biggest Walrus colonies in Eastern Svalbard, where we’ll examine them up close.
- Bird Cliffs - We're planning on a night Zodiac cruise at Alkefjellet. Over 100,000 birds, in huge cliffs with great light.
- Arctic Fox Dens - We’ll visit the dens at Alkehornet where parents grow their pups under dramatic photogenic cliffs.
- The Ice Wall - Bråsvellbreen is the longest ice cliff in Svalbard at 45km long, with waterfalls and beautiful layers.
- Glaciers and Sea Ice - We will witness the effects of climate change first hand, and may reach the north pole ice cap
- History and Legacy - We will learn a lot about the great explorers that made incredible discoveries in the Arctic.
- Expanded Itinerary - We have added more time on the best landings and greater access than others
- More Guidance - 7 Expert guides for your enriched content on wildlife, photography, nature and history. 1:7 ratio.
