LIMA
Lima, the capital of Peru, is located along the country's arid Pacific coast. While its colonial center is carefully preserved, Lima thrives as a dynamic metropolis and one of the largest cities in South America. The city is home to the renowned Museo Larco, which houses an extensive collection of pre-Columbian art, offering a deep dive into the history of Peru’s ancient civilizations. At the heart of Lima's historic center lies the Plaza de Armas, a vibrant landmark that encapsulates the essence of the city’s colonial past.
CUSCO
The city of Cusco is undoubtedly one of Peru’s most significant destinations. Its cobblestone streets are lined with Incan buildings waiting to be discovered. This enchanting city also boasts a vibrant nightlife, offering a variety of cafes, restaurants, and bars to suit all tastes.
The enigmatic Machu Picchu, “The Lost City of the Incas,” stands as the most remarkable and beautiful legacy of ancient Peru. Part of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which was recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, this awe-inspiring site sits atop a mountain, surrounded by lush nature, making it a truly unique place on earth. Built around 1450, Machu Picchu showcases the classic Inca architectural style, with its polished dry-stone walls. The site’s key structures include the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. A short drive further brings you to the archaeological sites of Qenko, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay—ancient Incan structures built entirely from stone.

Built around 1450, this awe-inspiring site showcases classical Inca architecture, with its polished dry-stone walls. The key structures include the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows, each offering a glimpse into the spiritual and architectural genius of the ancient Incas.
KENKO:
The original name of this sanctuary remains unknown, but the Quechua word K'enko means "labyrinth." This sacred site, located on what is now known as Socorro Hill, covers an area of more than 3,500 square meters.
PUCA PUCARA (The pink fortress).
Named after the reddish color of the earth in the area, Puka Pukara was a tambo—a housing complex and food storage facility used by the Incas.
TAMBOMACHAY
Also known as the “Temple of the Water,” Tambomachay derives its name from two Quechua words: Tampu, meaning collective housing, and Mach’ay, which means a resting place. The site features the “Bath of the Ñusta” (or “Inca Maiden’s Bath”), consisting of two aqueducts that transport clean water year-round. This sacred pond was a place of religious significance, where the Inca and their people worshipped the water, honoring its vital role in their empire.
SACSAYHUAMAN
The name Sacsayhuamán means “satisfied hawk” in Quechua. This impressive fortress was carved from massive granite blocks to protect the city from marauding tribes from the eastern jungle, specifically the Antis region. Sacsayhuamán is divided into three expansive zigzagging terraces, flanked by enormous stone walls, some stretching up to 300 meters in length.
KORICANCHA
It was a magnificent temple built to honor Inti, the Sun God, the most revered deity in the Inca religion.
PISAC
A picturesque town known for its colorful markets, Pisac is a great place to experience local culture. You’ll find farmers from surrounding communities selling handmade crafts, textiles, and fresh produce.
URUBAMBA
The Urubamba Valley, also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, is a tranquil region near Cusco, cherished by the Incas for its unique geographical and climatic conditions, which make it ideal for farming.
OLLANTAYTAMBO
At the end of the valley, you’ll visit Ollantaytambo, a village known for its Inca fortress. The massive stone terraces and temples are a testament to the ingenuity and power of the Incas.
The fortress played an important role in the Inca resistance against the Spanish, and its preservation offers a glimpse into the history of the region.
