Oakhurst is a community within Ocean Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 3,995. New Jersey Transit offers train service on the North Jersey Coast Line at the Elberon. NJ Transit bus service is available on the 832 and 837 local routes.
Monmouth County has a Jewish population of 65,000, Oakhurst is a popular place within the county. Oakhurst also falls within the Jersey Shore area of New Jersey. New Jersey granted religious tolerance to its citizens as early as 1665, and the state constitution of 1844 abolished all religious qualifications for voting and holding public office.
